Organisational structure of the MIA CAS

The Masaryk Institute and Archives of the CAS is a institute of the Czech Academy of Sciences, whose task is:

  • research on the life and works of T. G. Masaryk, E. Beneš and their collaborators in the broader context of modern Czech and world history;
  • research on modern Czech and Czechoslovak history in the Central European context;
  • scientific research in the field of archives and the theory and methodology of archival work;
  • research on the history of science, the history of the Czech Academy of Sciences and its predecessors, and the history of education;
  • research in the field of codicology and medieval studies;
  • pre-archival care and supervision of the records management within the Czech Academy of Sciences;
  • taking over and processing of archival materials from the organisational units and institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and archival materials resulting from the activities of individual scientists, including the provision of service and advisory services of a scientific and information nature,
  • management of historical archival collections,
  • administration and care of the T. G. Masaryk Library and the fonds of the Archives of the T. G. Masaryk Institute.

The organisational structure of the Masaryk Institute and Archives of the CAS is set out in its organisational regulations, drawn up in accordance with legal standards and the internal regulations of the Czech Academy of Sciences.
