Comparative and Transnational History
The team seeks to contextualize Czech and Central European history of the 19th and 20th centuries more broadly through comparative and transnational approaches to contemporary historical scholarship. Using the classical tools of historical comparison as well as newer approaches of the history of cultural transfers, the history of space, migration and digital humanities, the team seeks to go beyond the classical paradigms of national historiography focused on the central categories of the nation and the nation-state. Members of the team carry out specific research projects in the history of migration, citizenship and the Holocaust, and in the comparative history of modern wars, violence and their consequences.
