The aim of the programme is to examine and practically verify the systemic assumptions, sources and tools of social resilience to crises of various kinds, especially those that Czech society is currently facing or may face in the 21st century. With regard to historical and current social events, the programme studies more general assumptions of individual and social resilience to unexpected events. Through its activities, the programme mediates and cultivates a social debate on current crisis phenomena and tests its innovative forms. The programme sees our culture as a key framework for sharing facts, knowledge, ethical principles and lifestyles so that these facts, knowledge, principles, and styles become part of a functioning social infrastructure (public institutions, cultural organizations, education, media).

The programme supports the creation of platforms that will allow the circulation of knowledge across traditionally defined scientific disciplines and social areas. Its ambition is to include activities of an interdisciplinary and also transdisciplinary nature - that is, those that are based on the cooperation of academic (social sciences and natural sciences) and non-academic institutions.

Goals

  • Study the systemic assumptions, sources and tools of social resilience.
  • Study the relationship between individual and social resilience.
  • Study the links between the individual, society and the environment.
  • Promote communication, historical and information literacy.
  • Mediate, strengthen and cultivate the culture of social debate on current crisis phenomena, test its innovative participatory forms and possible solutions.
  • Establish and strengthen interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research cooperation.
