Topic
Women in history, history of the women's movement
The history of women is a topic that has been systematically appearing in Czech historiography since the mid-1990s. Since the first summary and overview monographs, which were positivist in their approach, or works of a biographical nature, it has gradually developed in many other directions. It made use of modern methods of Western European and American provenance and, in the conditions of the Masaryk Institute and the Archives of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, a specific source base. The logical focus of our department is therefore, among other things, T. G. Masaryk's relationship to the women's movement and his support for gender equality and the representation of women in science.
